![]() A flagship LG phone is clearly inferior to a flagship Samsung phone, but they still sell it. Without even going so far as paying MORE for less, let's look at another example. And there are literally millions of those. The same morons who pay a premium for inferior Apple products, probably. So, for those of you who may know more about it, why is Draftsight changing to a paid program? I feel it'll quickly obsolete itself unless there's something I'm not using it for that's really important. Why, may I ask? Is there something valuable about the program I'm not seeing? I know Solidworks is supposed to be gearing up for the 3DExperience but haven't looked into it much and, if I understand correctly, it is still a few years away from being the main product. I just updated it and got an e-mail saying this was the last year it is offered for free. I use it from time to time for simple 2D sketches, but very rarely anymore. After getting Solidworks, I realized they had created Draftsight, an ironically close version of Autodesk's AutoCAD, for free usage. Then we moved onto Solidworks, where I've been ever since, and that was the biggest game changer. ![]() When going into college in 2002, I was lucky enough to use AutoCAD 2002, which was amazing at the time. I don't even remember what it was called at this point. Let me preface by saying I was lucky enough to start drafting on boards in high-school right before they were phased out in the late 90's and started going to computers.
